5th Sunday in Ordinary Time (B) – 4th February 2018 - Family Mass

Without Christ our lives would be pure drudgery. We would be like slaves, or like workmen
with nothing to look forward to but our wages. But the healing power of Christ transformed our
lives: now we are free to make ourselves like him, the slaves of everyone, offering men the good
news without asking for anything in return.

The SEASON of LENT

Ash Wednesday –14th February 2018

Penitence is an essential part of the Christian life, for none of us can measure up to the tremendous vocation that is ours as Christians. We are in constant need of the mercy and forgiveness of God. Today we express this by taking part in an impressive corporate act of penitence and reconciliation, beseeching God for the grace to use with profit the ‘favourable time’ of preparation for the celebration of Christ’s Passover feast.

40 days of Lent

1st Sunday of Lent (B) – 18th February 2018

At the beginning of Lent we renew our response to the Covenant, the pact of love that God made with each of us at our baptism. Imagine what good news it must have been to Noah, alone in a drowned world, when he learned that God’s love had not abandoned, nor ever would abandon, the earth and its creatures.

Readings: Genesis 9:8-15      Psalm 24     1 Peter 3:18-22       Mark 1:12-15
