St. Simon and St. Jude

Roman Catholic Church, Streatham Hill

Singing is a gift of God, it lies at the heart of all worship. Singing comes naturally to all humans it is an intrinsic part of our lives, we sing at all moments of our lives to celebrate joy, gratitude and grief.

Music in liturgy helps to bind people and communities together so that we collectively sing with one heart and one voice. Singing hymns and songs allows us to share our sentiments and love for each other and our love for God and to commit ourselves to meaning them. When we come together as a community to sing and in the sharing of our talents we can individually offer repentance, praise and thank God. Singing brings us together especially when we sing the hymns and songs with sincerity and with meaning.

Sunday Hymns: These are the hymns selected from Laudate Hymn book that we have rehearsed on the previous Monday and will sing this Sunday.

Choir rehearsal: Every Monday evening at 07:30 p.m. in the Church and on Sunday before mass atChurch Floor stone FG 09:30 a.m. Do feel free to join us at  St. Simon & St. Jude. RC.

These suggested hymns serve as a guide for respective Sundays. They are aligned to a degree to the Sunday readings, the psalm and the gospel. The aim is to frame and enhance the liturgy with music and songs that follow both the vertical context (that day's readings, etc.) and also attempt to capture horizontally the liturgical themes throughout the seasons and feasts, for instance, Advent, Christmastide, Lent, Easter and Ordinary time.

Final versions that we sing at Sunday 10:30 a.m. mass.
